Test Credit Card Numbers

The numbers below are official test card numbers published by payment providers. They are designed for sandbox and test mode: they behave like real cards for each provider's test scenarios but cannot be charged. For generated, structurally valid numbers in any BIN, use the card generator.

These cards always fail in a specific way, which makes them ideal for testing error handling and retry logic.

3D Secure test cards

These Stripe test cards trigger authentication flows. Combine them with a test payment to exercise your 3DS handling.

Expiry date and CVV conventions

  • Expiry: use any date in the future, e.g. 12/2030. Test cards do not really expire.
  • CVV/CVC: any 3 digits for Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Diners and JCB.
  • Amex CID: any 4 digits — Amex security codes are 4 digits, not 3.
  • Postal/ZIP: some gateways test AVS with specific ZIP codes; check your provider's docs.
